Water Filtration Systems

In order for water to be used in most cases after pumping it will need to be filtered to some degree. The type of filtration required depends on the proposed use of the water. If the water is to be just for irrigation then often no filtration is necessary or a simple sediment filter to catch any sand particles.


If however you intend to drink the water then some or all of the items listed below may apply to you.

The type of filtration you may need will depend on the results of your water analysis.

If you are to drink or consume the water it MUST be filtered to keep in line with the drinking water standards regulations which states the minimum if the water is pure (proven by water test results) there must be an Ultra violet light and sediment filter fitted.

The process of pumping water through what are known as string filters. These types of filters remove solid particulate from the water. Solid contaminants such as grit, organic matter, sand etc will always be encountered and can be seen with the naked eye. Contaminants in dilution can also be removed with this method and usually cannot be seen with the naked eye.

The presence of high levels of metals in your water can cause numerous problems both in terms of health and equipment. Iron for example can in high quantities, give the water an unpleasant metal taste and colour it dark brown or orange. It will also stain anything it comes into contact with and is not good for humans.

If required, is to add a water softener. If the water is to be used in heating systems for example, central heating, is output to a water heater, tap or shower head, a water softener is advisable to prevent scale build up. This is particularly necessary in hard water areas.

In some cases the water can be lower then 7 which is acidic. A ph level of 6 is more acidic then a level of 7 by 10 times! We are able to install PH correction units to bring the PH level back to neutral to enable safe usage of the water.

Sometimes the water you draw may contain harmful chemicals which cannot be removed with standard filters. In such cases other specialist filters can be used which will remove or reduce the harmful effects of many specific chemicals for example: Chlorine, lead, benzene, arsenic, mercury, cadmium, nitrates and pesticides.

To destroy any pathogens that will be present through what are known as Ultra Violet filters. These filter types destroy all and any bacteria which may be present rendering your water clean and suitable for drinking. The wattage is specified based on your water test results.
