Discover the benefits of a private water supply Today!
Find your water
If you dont already have a known water supply, then your first job will be to find it. Dowsing and geological surveys provide the most accurate means to do this.. Read more...
Pump it up
Once you have found your water supply, the next task is to bring it to the surface, establish your yield, and have it tested to establish its chemistry. Read more...
Filter it
When you have the results of your composition test, you will need to think about filtration. The type you may need depands on your water content. Read more...
The Brumby
Pump in operation - Water wells and Bore holes
Any low cost, low pressure compressor, (2-15 cubic feet per minute), pushes air down to the Brumby pump. As this air enters the pump chamber it mixes with the surrounding water and travels back up the delivery pipe.
As the mixture is obviously much lighter than the surrounding water (as it's mixed with air), it accelerates to the surface and out of your discharge pipe.
If you want more water up, simply pump a little more air down to your Brumby Pump.
The deeper the submersion, the more water you get, up to 10,000 liters (10 metric tonnes) per hour, sometimes more, from a maximum depth of 180 meters.
Other uses for a Brumby Pump include the aeration of fish ponds, pumping marine water, salvage and coastal operations, pumping lakes, ponds and dams and even leachates from landfill sites.
Brumby Pumps also make a range of stainless steel models suitable for pumping crude and
refined oils and fuels.
The Brumby pump is suspended near the bottom of your well or bore, a meter or so from the very bottom.
The Brumby pump will continue to pump for as long as air is delivered to it.
The earliest pumps installed in remote bores in Western Australia are still pumping - maintenance free, after more than 20 years!
The reason is very simple:
Conventional pumps, even very high quality stainless steel pumps, contain many moving parts and metals which are affected by minerals, fine grit and perhaps acid present in the water.
Because the Brumby pumps are manufactured almost exclusively from thermoplastic ABS, waterborne abrasives such as grit, sand, mud, and even acid water do not affect the pump.
This provides astonishing life expectancy and is the reason why Brumby Pumps are able to offer a 5 year guarantee.
