FAQs > Maintenance and Servicing

Q How often should I have my system serviced?

In general, once a year is recommended.for private water supply systems where the supply is to one home occupied by you and your family.
If you run a commercial operation, or your bore or well supplyies other homes or businesses, we would recommend a more frequent interval.

Q What parts of the system are checked?

The whole system from from the well or borehole pump through to the point of delivery to your water network is checked incuding all connections, filtration, tanks subsequent pumps, pressure vessels up the point where the system enters your property.
We would also recommend a water retest at the same time, to ensure that your water has not changed and to ensure that your water remains suitable for your use.

Q Do filters need to be changed?

Yes. All filters need to be checked periodically and sometimes changed. String filters will need to be changed as these are usually the first line of filtration and trap suspended particulate.
String filters are cheap.
Other types of filters which may need to be cleaned or have their media changed include Iron filters, chemical filters, systems to remove surplus hardness - many types for many reasons - most of which will require some media changes periodically.

Q I have an ultra violet filter. How often does the lamp need to be replaced?

Ultra violet filters are always recommended for final stage biological filtration. Their lamps - which look like fluorescent tubes emit a string UV light which with time can diminish and render the device ineffective. Often there is no visible change in the light from these tubes.
It is therefore essential that they are replaced once per year to ensure that your water remains free from adverse biology, viruses and other pathological contaminants.
